Self Reflection

For the group task my group had to look into the british film 'The Boat That Rocked' by Working Title Films. In this task we had to produce a presentation that was eventually going to be recorded in front of the entire class about the synergy and convergence used in the film and their definition but also an in depth analysis of the production company. In our group, I chose to look into the synergy and convergence used in the film and gave examples of each.

Firstly, I began with synergy and chose to define what the word meant. I then applied my knowledge of the word to the film and concluded that there was multiple types of it used in promoting the film. I then gathered examples of each; for example: the iPhone app, Spotify playlists, posters, trailers and then analysed their use and codes and conventions. To make this all seem like a presentation, I gathered my research on a powerpoint which I laid out clearly for the audience to view. All of my work was then to placed onto a group prezi for when it was our turn to display to the class what we had done.

Next, I looked into media convergence which I found to be a more challenging task due to the fact as I did not know what it was. However, after research on the internet I found out the definition and added it into the powerpoint presentation. I then looked into how convergence is changing over time and how it is affecting cinema and more appropriately: British film. I feel as though this was a very worthwhile task as it has broadened my knowledge which I will now be able to use in the future.

As a whole, I feel that my group worked effectively and efficiently together as we produced a high quality presentation which included some useful and apporpriate knowledge. As for my performance, I feel as though I got on with the task quietly, quickly and to a good standard. I would then say that my interdependance and perseverance worked well throughout this task, although, if I were to do the task again I would attempt to manage my distractions better so that I could finish the task even quicker.
